Non-Profit Spotlight: Stormcells

We are excited to feature Stormcells as a Non-Profit Spotlight. Amanda Hopper, Director, explains the organization’s mission and how it serves the community.

Stormcells Mission

Creative problem solving on behalf of nonprofits and small businesses.

When did Stormcells start?

Stormcells was originally formed in 2013 as a way for a family unit to serve local charities and individuals in need. James and Amanda Hopper and Drs. Roy and Dorothy Miller created the organization as a way to use creative problem-solving on behalf of those in the community who suffered from a particular challenge or problem. Currently, Amanda is the full-time Director of Stormcells, and James, Roy, and Dorothy serve as consultants in their respective areas of expertise.

What makes Stormcells stand out?

One unique way that Stormcells serves charities is through a Women’s Only Think Tank. This diverse group of women not only engage in professional development training in critical thinking and problem solving, but also use these skills in providing consulting services to charities. Using a prize-backed challenge format, the charities identify their current major challenge. Subsequently, Think Tank members provide creative potential solutions, and the charities have the opportunity to choose the one that is the “ best fit” for their challenge. In the end, they benefit from the myriad of ideas and support provided by the women.

What are the greatest needs of the organization?

Stormcells believes that everyone has creative potential, if it is nurtured. We are always looking for women who want to grow in their creative thinking and problem solving skills, and who would like to tackle real-world problems faced by charities. Because the services offered to nonprofits are free, the need exists for sponsorships or paid consulting services from businesses or corporations.

Who do you assist? Why?

Our mission focuses on our passion for service, so Stormcells supports local, national, and international charities. We also believe that women possess unique perspectives to help those charities with the problems they face. We offer these women a platform where they can develop their skills and insights while contributing ideas to important social issues. Lastly, we provide consulting services for businesses that need a little extra help with a current challenge.

How can people get involved with the organization?

Stormcells is always looking for creative women, or anyone who would like to hone their problem-solving skills through an innovative professional development curriculum and real-world challenges. In addition, we always want to be aware of charities in need. If you are a charity, or know of a charity, that has a challenge or problem, Stormcells would like to help. Whether it is fundraising, advocacy, marketing, or operational, Stormcells may provide a unique approach for your endeavor.

Anything else you would like to include.

Stormcells works with each organization to find the best potential solutions to fit their unique needs and challenges. No two organizations are alike, so all services are customized to address the issues identified. Given the extensive expertise of our team, Stormcells can provide businesses and organizations with a myriad of professional, creative insights into challenges faced.
