We are honored to introduce our Leading Lady Spotlight –
Shannon Danesteh
Owner – 5 Star Social Media
Where you live: We’ve lived in Union, KY for almost 15 years. We’ve also lived in Lexington, Knoxville, Cincinnati, Pittsburg and Northern Virginia near DC. But we love it here…the beauty of the area, the people are extremely kind, and it’s only about an hour from my family ❤
Family: My Husband of 22 years, Brom – I was blessed with a big family growing up and now have 9 Nieces and 5 Nephews! Most of my family still lives in Louisville, KY so we see them often; however, my husband’s family is in California, which means we don’t get to see them as much as we’d like.
Occupation: I’m the owner of 5 Star Social Media, which I opened in October 2018 after serving as the marketing director for a group of medical offices. Before that, I was a Regional Operations Supervisor for 20+ years and fell in love with Training & Development. So when I started my marketing company, my focus gravitated towards teaching others the skills they need for marketing and social media to grow their business.
Education: My 1st year of college was at Western Kentucky University, and then I transferred to the University of Kentucky to study Marketing.
Hobbies: I love to Water Ski & Snow Ski. There’s nothing better than spending time on the lake, we had a boat growing up and I learned to ski when I was about 8. I actually learned to Snow Ski in Indiana, so you can imagine my awe the 1st ski trip to Colorado!
What is your favorite thing about being a woman? Definitely the sisterhood that women share is something really special & I’m truly blessed to have so many amazing women supporting me…the clothes and the jewelry are pretty great too.
Who is your biggest influence? My Parents. My Mom, she’s amazing. She continues to teach me so much about caring for others, hard work and determination. My Dad has such a passion for life-long learning, it’s inspiring to see that even though you retire, it doesn’t mean your adventures stop. I’m grateful everyday to have them as my role models.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? There are so many things I still want to learn, it’s hard to pick just one. I’m going to go with gardening, I feel like it would be very satisfying to be able to grow beautiful plants and delicious vegetables…unfortunately, I haven’t been blessed with a green thumb & I feel so bad when my poor plants don’t make it!
What qualities make a great leader? Patience and the ability to focus on what each individual does well, then build on that. Everyone innately wants to do a good job & we all have natural strengths. I’ve always found that when you focus on what someone does well, you’ll get a much stronger result.
